“..one of my first favourite Punk albums ever, this jam packed record with catchy, jump-up-and-down-and-get-crazy is loud, fast and is a kind of punk music that I really think everyone can enjoy..” – Plum
Pennybridge Pioneers is the fourth album by the Swedish Punk Rock group Millencolin, released on February 22, 2000. It was the band’s first album recorded outside their native country of Sweden, and their first to be certified gold in sales after selling over 35,000 copies in Australia. Its title is derived from the band’s home town of in Örebro, which translates to “Pennybridge” in English. They are currently on their 10 year Pennybridge Pioneers tour where they are playing this album in its entirety! 🙂
It’s true, I did have a hardcore punk phase in music (no, I did not consider Blink 182 about of that) when I was in high school. Rancid, NOFX, MXPX, Less than Jake, to name a few. Millencolin was also apart of that! The sad part however is that none of my friends ever liked Millencolin as well so I never had anyone to talk about how amazing they are. UNTIL, I met Ian Burniston, a Vancouverite, who was on my Kenya trip in 2005. It was awesome to finally have someone who knew the song list, and could sing a few verses with. THEN, once upon a big cleaning day here at my current house, HMS Putnam, Aaron and Iyar put on this album on the surround sound to musically enhance the less fun activity of epic house clean. More Millencolin fans! It’s now a classic album played in this house.. and that is truly an awesome thing. Another notable Millencolin fans – Lizzie Lacey!
